We are a small sustainable Eco Tourism business with strong green credentials. Our aim is to protect our sustainable space and to make it attractive, warm and comfortable for our guests. We are very happy to have received several awards for our Eco Tourism business.
Our Barn is suitable for private events. We have a maximum capacity of 30 for all family events e.g. anniversaries, birthdays, christenings. Civil Marriages by arrangement.

Availability and Cost
Hire the Barn from 11.00 to 4.00 PM any day – Monday to Thursday at a cost of €400. The cost includes access to;
- Parking up to 30 cars
- Electric Car Charger
- Completely private
- Good broadband
- Overhead projector
- Blackout blinds
- Wheelchair friendly
Extras
A three-course organic lunch can be supplied if required. Cost of lunch is extra. Tea and coffee available all day at no extra cost.

What are the benefits of choosing an eco-friendly venue for my event
Choosing a sustainable venue means making a choice that aligns with your green values. A sustainable venue considers all aspect of the venue from the materials that is used to build it, the energy, waste and water it uses and generated. You can read more about our sustainable practices here.
How many people can your eco-friendly venue cater for?
We can cater for a maximum of 30 guests.
Do sustainable venues typically cost more than traditional venues?
No, there is little to no difference in cost when hiring a sustainable venue.
What steps can I take to ensure that my event at an eco-friendly venue leaves a positive environmental legacy?
– Our electricity is sourced from Electric Ireland who source the majority of their energy from sustainable sources.
– We use Geothermal under floor heating sourced from the ground to heat our premises.
– We use wood from our woodlands for open fires and wood burning stoves. These woodlands are sustainably managed and annual replanting occurs.Find out more about our energy useage here
What steps can I take to ensure that my event at an eco-friendly venue leaves a positive environmental legacy?
Always choose a venue that are aligned with networks and organistions such as Leave no Trace and Sustainable Ireland Network. Blackstairs Eco Trails are proud members of both. We have also won awards from Eco Tourism Ireland.
What makes a venue eco-friendly?
Energy, waste and water are all key elements of our ecotourism policy. Whilst the nature of our business means that we don’t need to use a lot of energy or water but we ensure that it’s minimal and that our energy is sustainably sourced. We conserve water at every opportunity and recycle or compost the major of our waste produced.
Can I take a tour of the sustainable features of the venue before booking?
Yes. We ask guests for a minimum donation of €10.
